Now then,

What a busy day! travelled back to Sheffield for deadline day (unfortunately its not exciting as football deadline day!) and handed in my last 2 assignments ever! which is a huuuuge relief.
Then bumped into a couple of coursemates and went for a drink to somewhat celebrate our hand-ins and have a bit of catch up, which was fab!

Today's post is going to a tiny bit longer, thought I'd give you an insight to a little tool i'll be using during my weightloss process!

But first, food, I had breakfast at home, so I opted for a quick and easy breakfast:

I wasn't particually hungry this morning, so I opted for one egg, scrambled, with wholewheat seeded toast with a thin layer of ham and a small sprinkle of chia seeds on top.
It was perfect to satisfy me this morning and gave me enough energy to get me through until lunchtime.

Lunch was a bit rushed and purchased since I was en route back to Sheffield, but I opted for a favourite, sushi!

I bought the sushi from M&S Simply Food in Sheffield train station, I opted for this one because as previous readers will know, I'm really fussy when it comes to food, So I had the salmon and prawn pack, which is light and filled me.
I'd also been told about M&S's cold pressed drinks, I wanted some form of vegetable in my lunch so I opted for the orange and carrot one, even though I drank it all, I didn't fully rate it, to be honest it tasted of normal orange juice with a bit of blended up carrot puree in it, which meant the texture was a bit off for me, so not to my taste, but try it for yourself, one of you will probably like it! It's probably just my weird phobia of texture I have haha!

Finally onto tea, I haven't hardly any food in my flat, since been at home for a bit, so I just had to use what was in (reaaaaaally need to go food shopping tomorrow!) - so I opted for what I had available in my cupboards which would be somewhat filling, lunch was quite light, so left me quite hungry!

It's really hard to make enchiladias look pretty in a photo when you aren't the best cook ha! but I used small chopped bits of chicken with an Old El Paso 'Really Cheesy' Enchiladia kit, which is one of the more milder ones, I used weight watchers low fat cheese and tried not to put too much on, so there wasn't too much badness.
But this meal is one of my favourites, I'll be hopefully trying this again soon with more greenery included in the meal so watch this space!

Now for what I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I got a pretty cool little gadget for christmas, called UP! - It's an app on iPhone (I'm not sure if its available on android!) - with a little device you attach to yourself:

Before I begin, May I state I'm not in anyway being paid to promote or endorse this product, true opinion! :)
This is the device, you can get wristbands as well, but I prefered this as its more discreet and you can wear it under your clothes... (girls, I tend to attach it to my bra during the day and by PJ bottoms at night, but its by personal preference, guys - probably personal preference again!).
This little device is great, all it needs is a battery (same type as a watch!) and the UP! app by makers Jawbone, and you're ready to go.
It tracks your steps and if you're doing exercise, it picks up on it, you also have the option to (I will be doing this!) to put in your food intake, when you first download the app, you enter your weight and height and it gives you an ideal calorie goal to go to every day, at current, mine is 1400 calories a day, you're supposed to include drinks in it too, but if its not in the system, you can either scan the barcode or enter it manually. - but its great if you're trying not to snack, the key is to be honest and you'll realise how much you're actually eating if you do so :)
Not only this, but you can enter your workouts too, I haven't had chance to really use this feature yet,  so I'll update on this in a later post.
So you probably noticed that I wear the device on my PJ bottoms at night, yep! It tracks your sleep too! It advises you on how much sleep you should be getting and it also sets you an advisory 'bedtime' so you get enough sleep for the day ahead, since using this feature, I have definitely felt less restless and more energised in a morning, so big thumbs up from me!
One last feature it has is something called 'Smart Coach' - which gives you hints and tips for exercise and food, where you can improve or it gives you encouragement on where you're doing things right, it is a good feature! Another thumbs up from me :)
Finally, here's a little snap of the app homepage when you first open up the app, I'll do another post in the future about how to use the app :)

I must add that this app is only available for the iPhone 4s upwards! I have it on my iPad at the moment as I'm still on iPhone 4, but I will hopefully upgrading soon!
The App is FREE, but the wristbands are priced up at £59.99 on amazon, the device I use is currently priced at £38.50 and they come in different colours too!
That's all for now, but I'll see you again tomorrow :)
Later!

More food and general rambling!

Now then,

Today I'm absolutely stuffed, potential to go into a food coma!
I've had a bit of a testing day, printing out my dissertation, to put it simply, technology isn't always my friend! and afterwards headed to Go Outdoors to scout some wellies for Leeds Fest, and was unsuccessful :( even without this extra weight, I have naturally big calves, thighs and bum, which makes shopping for my bottom half is pretty annoying and fustrating, but shout out to the lovely guy in there who tried to help me, bless him.

Anyway, onto food, what I've actually here for....

This morning I was really tired and wanted a simple breakfast, so just opted for 2 weetabix pieces and some chopped banana on top with semi-skimmed milk. Nothing more to see or say about it really haha!

Lunch was a bit more complex, but it is one of my favourite meals!

As I stated in a previous post, I LOVE the combination of smoked salmon and light philidelphia cheese spread, so this pasta is perfect for me, again I opted for spaghetti pasta - but the sauce is made up of some philidelphia spread (the more you put in, the thicker the sauce will be), a little bit of milk (I'd say no more than a teaspoon, personally) tiny bit of lemon juice and some pepper, and of course some small smoked salmon pieces, once your pasta is almost ready, you can prepare this, just make sure once its on heat, start stirring immediately and keep stirring until its a nice liquid consistency, other wise the milk will turn, then once your pasta is ready, drain and then throw it in (not literally!) with the sauce and give it a quick stir before serving, I also put a few chia seeds again on there too :)

And finally, tea/dinner (whatever your preference)...

Decided to go for a mini midweek dinner, with a pork loin piece, mash and curly kale, and gravy to give it a bit of flavour!
It was pretty simple really...

But honestly I'm stuffed, and it's made me a little bit sleepy...
But after a few days at home, I have to return to Sheffield shortly to hand in all my assignments for my deadlines tomorrow!
So after I've handed everything in and got settled down, I'll update you tomorrow,
Enjoy your night everyone!
Much Love

Food for the day...

Now then,

As promised in my previous blog post, here is my update on meals for the day! I'm feeling a little bit stuffed right now and had a nice little balance today :)
Let's start with breakfast...

Omelette with bacon, cheese and spinach

This morning, I opted for a simple yet quick breakfast, may I point out that as you can see, my omelette flipping skills aren't much to be desired (Men, please form a queue! ;p).
The ingredients were bacon (again, sourced from my local butchers), 2 eggs, a handful of chopped spinach and a little sprinkle of cheddar cheese, oh and not forgetting those all important Chia seeds!
I also accompanied the meal with a nice glass of cold water, which really woke me up from my zombie like state (I'm not a morning person...).
It was a nice mix of flavour and the clean protein filled me up enough to get me through the morning, and gave me energy I needed to carry on with the last of my university work (which I have just finished by the way! :D).
So, onto lunch...

Lunch - Pasta

Lunch was lovely, It was a simple pasta with a tomato sauce, which was made by blending up chopped tomatoes, onions and mushrooms in my NutriBullet.
Once the sauce was heated I added in spinach and two chipolata sausages (chopped) and of course pasta + chia seeds.
I prefer long string like pasta, I just find it quicker to cook (I'm pretty impatient..) and you don't need to put as much in the pan as it does expand whilst cooking.
For drink, I decided on water again but with a little splash of vimto dilute in it so it wasn't as plain.
This was a great balanced meal with protein, veg and carbs and it was a nice combination of flavours too! :)
Finally, onto tea...
Tea: Stir fry

For tea, was a simple stir fry, as previous readers will know, I have a weird fear (well not fear, but I don't like) of texture, so I did my own take with it, I fried off fresh chicken in coconut oil, then added purple brocolli and spinach with a bit of soy sauce for flavour.
Rather than thick, heavy noodles, I opted for lighter vermicelli noodles, these take about 3 minutes to cook if that, and are a healthy option with no fat or sugar in them!
Again, with a glass of cold water..

No snacks or anything today, been too busy with my university work and all these meals have satisfied me enough :)
Look forward to sharing updates with you tomorrow!
Much love
Hayley

Now then,
Good morning all! excited to be on the 2nd day of my blog!
Thought I'd give a little insight to my exercise plans, Unfortunately, I don't currently have any time to do any exercise - because as I mentioned in my first post, I'm finishing my final year at university which equals exam, dissertation and deadlines (argh!) - meaning I have very little time to do any exercise at the moment. :(
So on the 6th May is my last university related activity (exam...woo?) So as of 7th of May, I'll officially rejoin the gym and get started on the exercise regime properly.
So until then, I'll just been watching what I eat :)
However, I am prepared for the exercise part, got myself some trainers and gym gear, and made these little purchases recently;

Phone/MP3 Armband

Yesterday, I made this little purchase, An armband to hold my phone in, Previously in the gym, although a lot machines now have a holder for phones, some specifically for iPhones, however, a lot of machines (Rowing machine is a great example!) has nowhere to put your phone, so when you're trying to listen to music whilst working out, it's a bit of a pain.
I got this one from Tesco,  it's supposed to fit iPhone 5/5S/5C - but at the moment I have iPhone 4 and it fits! It's currently reduced at £9.50.
The Tesco I went to is actually a Tesco Extra, and has a whole aisle full of exercise gear that I never knew existed at not too bad prices, it's fab - check it out if you're looking for new gear, they have a good range of different protein shake powders too!
Onto Protein powder...
My 'Vanilla Cookie' protein powder
I currently have 2 bags of this and a shaker, (Big shout out to Lucy for grabbing me these :p) including the one photographed above, One is vanilla cookie flavour (which tastes fab!) and I also have a chocolate flavoured one which I haven't tried yet.
I will stress that I will only be consuming these on days that I plan to work out, and please correct me if I'm wrong, I am new to this! But on the back of the packet, it does highlight that on days you plan to work out, you have one as a meal replacement, and then one after a workout - and you can mix it with either milk or water - I'll be trying both mixtures.
So I'm hoping that these will give me some more energy when it comes to my workouts, if anyone has any hints or tips for me for when it comes to exercise, please give me a shout!
My 21st birthday is coming up in August and to celebrate, me and a few friends are heading to Leeds Festival! So I wouldn't mind looking good whilst strutting around in a pair of shorts/festival gear :p.
For my actual exercise regime, help is at hand, I have my fitness fanatic and trainer Beth, who is going to be helping me throughout this process, who will probably feature in future blogs! And on top of that, Lucy and Louise, two of the few who are accompanying me to Leeds Fest will be joining me in the gym too!
I'll be back later to update you on today's meals, Until then see you later!

Curry

Now then,

As promised, here is my last post of today on meals and my final meal of the day! Safe to say I'm positively stuffed, and it was fab :)

Tea: My mum's chicken curry with slim rice, chicken, red pepper,
Red Vine Tomatoes, Onions and Mushrooms.

Tea tonight was stunning, to be honest, I did struggle with the Onions and mushrooms, If you haven't noticed already, I'm incredibly fussy and texture is one of them things that I'm not really a fan of... I know that probably makes me incredibly weird - but oh well :p
However, I did surprise myself, I've always been dead against peppers, mainly because of their crunchy texture (ew... makes me cringe just thinking about it!) but this time they were roasted to make it that little bit softer, which for me, made them more edible! It did have a bit of a spicy kick to it too, which was nice!
Next time I might try and blend up the onions and mushrooms in my nutriBullet and see if it makes it any better for me :)

The main thing I wanted to rave about within this meal is the 'Slim Rice':

Slim Rice

The rice used in the curry tonight was 'Slim Rice' - which I purchased from Holland & Barrett, and there's more within the range including 'Slim Pasta' and 'Slim Noodles'.
Those of you that are fan's of Made in Chelsea, may or may not have noticed that regular Jamie Laing, has tweeted about the range of products recently too! Which, as daft as it may sound, It gives me a little more confidence in the product!
But it's fab for 3 following reasons;
A) It tastes good and I can imagine it would suit a lot of different flavours,
B) It's got barely any calories in it, made mainly of fibre and it's sugar-free!
C) In this packet I got a recipe to try and a free 7 day meal plan, always a bonus!
I took a photo of the back for you to check out, I think it's a great win if you're trying to watch what you eat, but it is a little pricey, so in future, I'll have a look out for a similar more affordable alternative!

The Nutritional Info for the 'Skinny Rice'

As you can see, per 100g (always check! It's easy to get mixed up with the entire packet!) it's got 0.2 grams of Protein in it, 4 grams of Fibre and like I said earlier - its sugar-free! And it's Carb free, which is great for those of you if like me, you're trying to cut down.
This meal has left me feeling really satisfied and I think it was a great way to finish my meals for the day.

So until tomorrow, this is me signing off,
Hope you've had a fab day!

First Food Post!

 Now then,

This is my first official food blogpost! exciting.
I'm sure you are all thrilled to see 'instagram style' food uploads, but I intend to make it that little more interesting :p
One of my biggest issues, is the fact I cannot physically stand vegetables, which sounds daft if I'm trying to lose weight/be healthy, I know, but lets tackle it one step at a time hey? I eat a lot of protein and carbs too, which is probably (well is) quite naughty...
To help you guys see what I'm eating and where I get it from, I'll be sharing my daily meals so you can maybe try them out too... If you want to...
Anyway!

My NutriBullet blender

From the research I've been doing (Zzz) - Sugar is an absolute devil if you're trying to lose weight, so rather than drinking orange juice on a morning, which is full of sugar, I've been using my 'fancy' NutriBullet blender (Ooh-er) and making up some healthy smoothies/fruity water to compliment my meals, this morning I opted for a small water with two strawberries and some blueberries for flavour, it had a real nice kick to it and was a refreshing change to the bog standard orange juice or water. - I'll be trying different flavours of water throughout the process, So I'll keep you updated on which ones I liked and which ones, not so much!
Anyway, carrying on with breakfast...

Bacon, Scrambled Eggs and the water I made earlier

Breakfast was simple this morning, a clean, no carb breakfast included one rasher of bacon - (sourced from my local butchers!), and 2 eggs scrambled, with a small sprinkle of Chia seeds across the eggs.
The Chia seeds are full of omega 3 and is a superfood
, It's great for the anti-inflammatory system (fab!) - and these tiny seeds contain loads of
antioxidant's which has loads of great benefits for your body. winner!

Smoked Salmon wholewheat bagel with
philadephia cream cheese and spinach,
Accompanied by a glass of water.

Onto lunch...
I'm a big lover of fish, especially Salmon, which can be a little pricey (or a lot.. oops), and I love love love Philadelphia cream cheese (lightest prefably!), So for lunch I simply put the two together on a wholewheat bagel from the New York bagel range - and some spinach for good measure, all together makes a light and delicious alternative to your standard sandwich! - I also accompanied my lunch with a cold glass of water.

For tea, I'll be having my mum's curry - I'll update you on that later :)

So until then, see you later!

Introduction

Now then,

My name is Hayley, I'm 20 years old and just finishing my final year of my degree at Sheffield Hallam University, England.
Welcome to 'Shift my booty' - those who know me well, know that I'm well known for my bodacious backside, and admittedly I have a few issues with my weight, including my self-confidence.
Recently, I've decided I'm going to do something about it, I currently stand at 5ft 6in and weigh 16st 6lbs and wear a size 16 - again I know I'm classed as overweight and I'm definitely not perfect, but then again, who is? - So what's the point of this? It's simple, I'm going to use this blog to record my progress in my mission, to motivate me to lose weight, become more confident and happier with my self-image.
I know for a fact this is NOT going to be easy for me, As a person I'm incredibly laid-back and not into my exercise, but I'm willing to give it a shot, so I'll be recording my meals, commenting on recipes I've enjoyed, workouts that are working for me and of course I'll be updating you on my progress as I start to 'shift my booty' (and general weight of course ha!).
Hope you enjoy reading, feel free to give me feedback on my progress!
